Violinist Gil Shaham, Grammy Award winner and recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Award, joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic on its annual trek to Orange County. As one of the most virtuosic and engaging classical artists today, Gil Shaham is a highly regarded soloist and sought after around the world. His numerous recordings have earned multiple Grammys, a Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d’Or, and Gramophone Editor’s Choice Award.

A graduate and prize-winner of the Paris Conservatoire, French conductor Stéphane Denève was shortlisted for Gramophone’s Artist of the Year award in 2012. He began his career as Sir Georg Solti's assistant with the Orchestre de Paris and Paris National Opera and currently serves as Chief Conductor of Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Beethoven: The Finale
5/15/2014 - 5/15/2014
The finale to the Society’s multi-season Beethoven: The Late Great celebration showcases the U.S. West Coast premiere of a new commissioned work by Mark-Anthony Turnage, entitled Frieze. Turnage’s Frieze takes its name from the Beethoven Frieze, a painting by Gustav Klimt inspired by Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony, which will also be performed as part of the evening’s program.

Dean Corey’s final concert as President and Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Society is a collective celebration of Orange County, bringing in the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, piano soloist Marc Yu, and choirs from UC Irvine and Chapman University.
