Welcome to spring at the Center. In this issue of Revue, it's all about Broadway. The Center has three musicals on the spring-summer calendar that show the great range this genre offers. La Cage Aux Folles, (the story, like the 1996 film The Birdcage starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, is based on an earlier French film), features comedy, love, marriage and drag queens. To add to the fun, our feature includes an opportunity to dress our own drag queen in a selection of gowns and pose her in front of Segerstrom Hall. The Center is also presenting Green Day's American Idiot, based on the music of this popular alternative rock group. It's about three young men trying to find their way in the world, and features Green Day hits like "Holiday" and of course, the title song. If it's a classic you're looking for, get tickets for the new 25th anniversary production of the legendary musical Les Misérables, with glorious new staging and dazzlingly reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. If all this leaves you wanting more, check out our story about the 2012–13 Broadway season, with hits including Billy Elliot, War Horse and Anything Goes. We hope that you will visit the Center to enjoy these shows and perhaps discover a new favorite.
